American pop icon Madonna was so enchanted by her last visit to Ithaca in July that she decided to invest on the Ionian Island and buy property.

According to Greek newspaper espresso, the queen of pop is one of the first celebrities to have expressed an interest to buy a luxury villa, part of a glamorous resort complex that is currently in the works on the island by Greek-Australian entrepreneurs.

Ithaca to attract the rich & famous

The name of the resort will be “Odyssey 6* Resort” and will be built at Vathi, southeast of the island, a location that offers breathtaking views of the sea and the coast of Aetoloakarnania, western Greece.

The six-star complex will cover a total area of 1,600 stremma that will house six luxury resorts, 1,020 suites, a marina that will accommodate at least 200 yachts, waterfront villas with their own marina, pools, tennis courts, gardens and golf course.

Besides Madonna, other Hollywood celebrities and big names of the business world have expressed an interest to buy a villa on the future complex to be built on Ithaca, the home of Odysseus in Homer’s Odyssey.
